How to Upload Bulk Questions from MS Word to a Quiz
Create an MS Word file in the prescribed format and simply follow these steps to upload questions in Bulk to a quiz:
- Add a new Quiz.
- Navigate to the Questions page.
- Click on the button “Import from .docx”
- Click on the select file button and choose your question file.
- Simply click on the “Submit” button.
Congratulations! Your questions are not uploaded, and you will be redirected to the question page.
Note: By default system sets the question category as uncategorized, + Points as 1, and Negative Points as 0.
How to set Points, Negative Points, and Subject in Bulk
Verify the questions and proceed to the next step of assigning the Question category and Marks.
- Select all/required questions (You can change the per page rows from the bottom right, if you have more than 20 questions)
- Click on the Bulk Actions option from the top left area.
- Select “Set Subjects and Points” and click the “Apply” button.
- Select the existing subject from the “Select Subject” dropdown or create a new subject by typing the complete name, and then click Add.
- Enter Points or Positive Points (+Points) without any sign.
- Enter Negative Points or (- Points) without any sign, if required, or leave it blank.
- Click on the “Save Changes” button.
Note: All the fields are optional in this modal. If you leave them blank, then previously assigned category, points, and negative points will be kept as it is.

1. What file format is supported for bulk question upload?
Only .docx
Files (MS Word format) are supported. Older .doc
or PDF files will not be processed.
2. Is there a specific template or format required for the Word file?
Yes, you must follow the predefined template provided by Acadlix. Incorrect formatting (e.g., missing headings, wrong symbols for options, explanations, etc.) will cause errors.
3. What types of questions can I upload in bulk?
You can upload:
- Single Choice
- Multiple Choice Questions
- True/False
- Fill in the Blanks
- Free Choice
- Sorting Choice
- Matrix Sorting
- Numerical Type
- Range Type

4. Can I upload images in questions using a Word document?
Yes, you can include images. Simply embed it directly in the Word file where you need it or copy and paste the image to the location. Make sure you adjust the size of the image because after uploading, it will be added in the full size Also, any formatting added to the image will not get uploaded.
5. Why are some questions not getting imported?

Special characters or symbols causing parsing errors
6. How many questions can I upload in one file?
It depends on your server limits and template structure. However, for optimal performance, we recommend uploading up to 100 questions per file. But there is no limit from our side.
7. Can I bulk-upload questions to multiple quizzes or assignments at once?
No. Currently, a bulk upload is linked to a single quiz. You’ll need to repeat the process for each one.
8. How should I mark correct answers for MCQs in the Word file?
Use the specific symbol defined in the template. For example, if option B is correct, then set it like this :Correct: B. For multiple choice questions where multiple options are correct, set them like :Correct: B, D
9. Can I edit questions after uploading?
Yes. Once uploaded, questions can be edited within the quiz editor.
10. I uploaded a file, but nothing happened. What should I do?
Check:
File size limit (check your WordPress max upload limit set by server)
Internet connection
Whether the file meets the required format
If the issue persists, contact support with a sample of your Word file.
11. Will question formatting (bold, italic, color) be retained?
Basic formatting like bold, underline, italic, superscript, and subscript is retained. However, advanced styles like color, font type may not be preserved.
12. Can I upload a table?
Yes! You can upload a table, but the size of the table may change, so always cross-check it after uploading.
13. Can I upload Mathematical Equations from MathType or MS Word?
No! But you can upload the LaTeX equations.
13. Can I reuse a file I already uploaded?
Yes, but avoid uploading the same questions multiple times to prevent duplication.
14. How to fix the “Unrecognized format” error?
Ensure:
You’re using the latest version of the template
There are no extra headers, footers, or tracked changes in the Word file
File is
.docx
format and not renamed from other extensions
15. Can I upload Hindi or regional language questions?
Yes. Acadlix supports Unicode, so you can add questions in Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, or any other supported language. Just ensure the document encoding is proper (UTF-8).
